Compassionate, Full-Service Estate Clearouts for Nassau and Suffolk County Families Since 2011

DDH (Done and Done Home) has guided Long Island families through estate cleanouts since 2011, handling the sorting, logistics, appraisals, donations, and disposal so families can focus on what actually matters. From Gold Coast estates in Nassau County to Southampton properties on the East End, our team manages every detail with the care and discretion the situation deserves.

Long Island Estate Clearing & Cleanout Professionals

Long Island estate cleanouts present a distinct set of challenges. Nassau and Suffolk County homes  (split-levels, colonials, and ranch homes settled during the 1970s and 1980s) often contain 40 or more years of accumulated belongings: inherited furniture, lifetime collections, full attics, finished basements, and garages organized into systems only the original owner ever fully understood. Gated communities and incorporated villages throughout Nassau County’s Gold Coast impose strict vendor access rules, waste removal requirements, and restrictions on temporary storage like PODs or dumpsters. And many families managing a Long Island estate are coordinating the process from Manhattan, New Jersey, or further away, without the ability to be on-site for every step.

Here is what sets us apart: DDH handles the entire scope, from start to finish. We sort every item, coordinate appraisals for pieces that warrant them, arrange donations to Long Island charities, and manage all disposal in compliance with Nassau and Suffolk County regulations. Our team serves as the on-the-ground expert so you never have to juggle the logistics yourself.

Sorting & Decluttering

We work through every room and item in the Long Island property, systematically and methodically, identifying what to keep, what warrants professional appraisal, what to donate, and what to dispose of. Nothing is handled carelessly or indiscriminately.

Appraisal Coordination

We arrange appointments with trusted, vetted appraisers for antiques, art, jewelry, and other valuable items. Our team is experienced at identifying what warrants professional assessment before any donation or disposal decisions are made.

Donations & Consignment

We coordinate donations to reputable Long Island charities and connect clients with consignment options for sellable items. We manage the scheduling, drop-offs, and pickups so you never have to make a single separate arrangement.

Junk Removal & Disposal

We manage the responsible removal and disposal of non-donatable items in full compliance with Nassau and Suffolk County regulations, including electronics, oversized furniture, and materials requiring special handling.

Organization of Kept Items

We organize and create a clear inventory of everything the family is keeping, making distribution among family members and transport to new locations as straightforward as possible.

Documentation Support

We provide detailed inventories of kept items and organized documentation for charitable donation tax deductions, support that matters for both estate records and the family’s tax filings.

We Organize Your Life. You Live It.

About DDH (Done and Done Home)

Meet The Owner

Over 15 years ago, mother-daughter duo Ann Lightfoot and Kate Pawlowski founded DDH (Done and Done Home) after using their natural organizational talents to help a friend with a move. What began as a passion project swiftly grew into a multi-million dollar business, offering expert organization services to those struggling with their cluttered spaces on a daily basis.

Not only have Ann and Kate built a team of professionals that help people all throughout the Tri-State Area organize their homes, they’ve also written a book, Love Your Home Again: Organize Your Space and Uncover the Home of Your Dreams, and created a course, From Chaos to Calm: A Masterclass in Home Organizing, that teach people to love their home again.

I could not be happier with Done & Done and the service Rachel and Alana provided. From start to finish, they were incredible to work with — warm, professional, and genuinely invested in creating a space that felt both beautiful and functional. My apartment looks amazing and is so thoughtfully organized that it truly feels like a weight has been lifted. They went above and beyond in ways that made the experience exceptional. Plus, they are both such lovely people. I am absolutely thrilled with the results and would highly recommend Done & Done in a heartbeat! Thank you Done & Done and thank you Rachel and Alana for such an outstanding experience!

My mother gifted me a session with Done & Done Home for my birthday, and I could not be more grateful for the experience. Rachel and Alana were incredible and did an outstanding job reorganizing the closets in my apartment. They were friendly, efficient, and wonderfully calm as they tackled all five closets. Together, we sorted everything into three clear categories—keep, donate, and sell—before they thoughtfully reorganized each space in a far more functional and intuitive way. Not only does my home look and feel transformed, but I also gained a real sense of mental clarity from the process. I highly recommend Done & Done Home.

I got a rave review from my daughter after working with Done and Done. She was so excited by the change in her closets and the thoroughness and work ethic of both Rachel and Alana. I hope this will be the beginning of a lifelong understanding of what you really gain by letting go.

I’m so happy I chose to get help and went to Done and Done. Within minutes of their arrival, they were already tackling what needed to be done and worked really hard for the entire day. Having that extra help was a game changer. We go rid of about 10 industrial sized trash bags worth of stuff!

I cannot recommend Ann and her team highly enough. Sharon and Rachel came to my apartment to purge, organize and pack to get ready for a move. They were so kind and so unbelievably efficient. All of the stress I felt leading up to the move was for nothing. I would use this service again in a heartbeat!

Why Choose Done & Done Home

Why Long Island Families Choose Done & Done Home

15+ Years of Experience

15+ Years Working Across Long Island

Our team has worked in hundreds of Nassau and Suffolk County homes (from Gold Coast estates to Hamptons seasonal properties), and that depth of experience shapes how we approach every project. We know the neighborhoods, the regulations, and the specific challenges that Long Island estate cleanouts present.

Luxury Home Specialists

Luxury Home Specialists

We are trained to handle antiques, fine art, jewelry, designer items, and irreplaceable family heirlooms with the care they deserve. Our team knows the difference between what should be appraised, what should be consigned, and what should simply move on, and we have the professional network to act on each.

Full-Service Coordination

Full Logistics Coordination

Junk removal companies will clear a property, but they are not equipped to identify what is valuable or sort through belongings with the care an estate deserves. Auction houses focus on selling, not on the full clearout. DDH handles the entire scope: sorting, appraisals, donations, disposal, and community-specific compliance, all of it managed by our team.

Remote-Friendly

Remote-Friendly Process

Many of our Long Island estate clients manage the process from Manhattan, out of state, or remotely. We communicate clearly throughout every stage so decisions can be made without requiring you to be on-site for every step. You always know where things stand.

What to Expect

Our Estate Clearing Process

We follow a clear five-step process designed to make every Long Island estate cleanout as organized and stress-free as possible.

Step 01

Consultation & Assessment

We discuss the scope of the project, the timeline, and the family's priorities. We may request photos or a walkthrough of the property to plan effectively before arriving on-site.

Step 02

Planning

Our team creates a customized plan outlining strategy, resources needed, key logistics for the specific community, and an estimated timeline, including any gated community or incorporated village requirements that need to be addressed in advance.

Step 03

Sorting & Decluttering

We work through every room and item, identifying what to keep, what warrants appraisal, what to donate, and what to dispose of. Everything is handled with care and intention.

Step 04

Distribution & Clearing

We coordinate appraisal appointments, arrange donations to local charities, manage disposal in compliance with local regulations, and handle all item removal from the property.

Best Practices for Long Island Estate Cleanouts

Start with a Thorough Consultation

Before any work begins, our team conducts a detailed consultation to understand the scope of the project, the family’s priorities, and the timeline. If possible, we request photos or a walkthrough of the property so we can plan effectively and arrive fully prepared.

Plan for Community-Specific Regulations

Every Long Island community has its own rules. We research your town’s or gated community’s vendor access requirements, disposal restrictions, and scheduling limitations well in advance, so the project moves forward without delays or surprises on the day.

Identify What's Valuable Before Anything Leaves

Nothing leaves the property without a clear designation. Our team is experienced at identifying items that warrant professional appraisal before any donation or disposal decisions are made, ensuring the family never inadvertently lets go of something of real value.

Keep the Family Informed at Every Stag

Estate cleanouts are deeply personal, and we treat them that way. We communicate clearly and regularly throughout the project, so that regardless of whether family members are on-site or managing things remotely, everyone knows exactly where things stand.

Who This Is For

DDH’s Long Island estate clearing services are the best solution for:
