Home Decluttering Services in Manhattan

Expert Decluttering for Manhattan Apartments, Co-ops, and Luxury Residences Since 2011

DDH has spent over 15 years decluttering and organizing homes across Manhattan, from pre-war apartments on the Upper East Side to converted lofts in Tribeca. Our women-owned team understands what it actually takes to declutter in New York City, the building logistics, the space constraints, and the emotional weight of letting go in a city where every square foot counts. Whether you are drowning in clutter, preparing to list your apartment, or navigating an estate clearout, we are ready to help.

Professional Home Decluttering Services in Manhattan

Upper East Side and Upper West Side were built with minimal closet space (a typical pre-war bedroom closet runs just 36 to 42 inches wide) and no pantries, mudrooms, or garages to absorb decades of accumulation. Co-op buildings, which make up more than 75% of Manhattan’s residential buildings, add another layer of complexity: freight elevator reservations, certificates of insurance, restricted work hours, and building superintendent sign-offs that can turn a one-day project into two or three. And Manhattan’s well-known August 31 moving season creates a concentrated rush of listings, move-ins, and move-outs that demands a team who can work quickly and on tight timelines.

Here is what sets us apart: our team has worked in hundreds of Manhattan homes across every neighborhood and building type. We coordinate with your building management, handle all donation and disposal logistics within NYC sanitation requirements, and leave your home completely transformed. You do not have to figure out where anything goes; we handle all of it.

Home Decluttering & Organization

Our core service. We work room by room through your Manhattan home, sorting and deciding together, coordinating all donations and removals, and building organizational systems tailored to your specific space and how you actually live in it.

Move Management

Full-service packing, coordination, and unpacking for Manhattan move-ins and move-outs. We manage the logistics, freight elevator scheduling, permit coordination, mover management — and leave your new home completely organized from the very first night.

Pre-Listing Preparation

We declutter and organize your Manhattan apartment to show at its best before it goes to market. Decluttered spaces photograph better, feel larger, and sell faster, and our team knows exactly what Manhattan buyers and brokers are looking for.

Estate Clearout

We handle the full estate clearout process with compassion and precision: room-by-room sorting, appraisal coordination, donation management, and item removal, all compliant with your building’s regulations and NYC sanitation requirements.

Photo Organization

We sort, organize, and coordinate the digitization of physical photo collections, turning boxes of unsorted memories into a system you can actually access and enjoy.

Ongoing Maintenance

Already organized but things have slipped? We offer follow-up sessions to get your systems back on track and keep your Manhattan home clutter-free over time.

We Organize Your Life. You Live It.

About DDH (Done and Done Home)

Meet The Owner

Over 15 years ago, mother-daughter duo Ann Lightfoot and Kate Pawlowski founded DDH (Done and Done Home) after using their natural organizational talents to help a friend with a move. What began as a passion project swiftly grew into a multimillion-dollar business, offering expert organization services to those struggling with cluttered spaces daily.

Not only have Ann and Kate built a team of professionals that help people all throughout the Tri-State Area organize their homes, but they’ve also written a book, Love Your Home Again: Organize Your Space and Uncover the Home of Your Dreams, and created a course, From Chaos to Calm: A Masterclass in Home Organizing, that teaches people to love their home again.

I could not be happier with Done & Done and the service Rachel and Alana provided. From start to finish, they were incredible to work with — warm, professional, and genuinely invested in creating a space that felt both beautiful and functional. My apartment looks amazing and is so thoughtfully organized that it truly feels like a weight has been lifted. They went above and beyond in ways that made the experience exceptional. Plus, they are both such lovely people. I am absolutely thrilled with the results and would highly recommend Done & Done in a heartbeat! Thank you Done & Done and thank you Rachel and Alana for such an outstanding experience!

My mother gifted me a session with Done & Done Home for my birthday, and I could not be more grateful for the experience. Rachel and Alana were incredible and did an outstanding job reorganizing the closets in my apartment. They were friendly, efficient, and wonderfully calm as they tackled all five closets. Together, we sorted everything into three clear categories—keep, donate, and sell—before they thoughtfully reorganized each space in a far more functional and intuitive way. Not only does my home look and feel transformed, but I also gained a real sense of mental clarity from the process. I highly recommend Done & Done Home.

I got a rave review from my daughter after working with Done and Done. She was so excited by the change in her closets and the thoroughness and work ethic of both Rachel and Alana. I hope this will be the beginning of a lifelong understanding of what you really gain by letting go.

I’m so happy I chose to get help and went to Done and Done. Within minutes of their arrival, they were already tackling what needed to be done and worked really hard for the entire day. Having that extra help was a game changer. We go rid of about 10 industrial sized trash bags worth of stuff!

I cannot recommend Ann and her team highly enough. Sharon and Rachel came to my apartment to purge, organize and pack to get ready for a move. They were so kind and so unbelievably efficient. All of the stress I felt leading up to the move was for nothing. I would use this service again in a heartbeat!

Manhattan Decluttering Services

Why Decluttering a Manhattan Home Requires a Different Approach

Manhattan presents decluttering challenges you simply do not find anywhere else. The apartments are smaller, the buildings have rules, and the sheer density of belongings that accumulate in a city where space is at a premium creates a particular kind of clutter that requires a team who knows this city intimately.

Pre-War Apartments

Pre-War Buildings and the Storage Problem They Were Not Designed to Solve

The majority of Manhattan's most sought-after apartments are in pre-war buildings, constructed before World War II, when closets were an afterthought and built-in storage was minimal by today's standards. A typical pre-war bedroom closet runs 36 to 42 inches wide. There are no reach-in pantries, no mudrooms, no garage.

Decades of accumulation (clothing, books, kitchenware, children's items, and sentimental objects) have nowhere natural to go. Our team has decluttered pre-war apartments throughout the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, and the West Village, and we know exactly how to assess what a space can realistically hold before we ever start sorting.

Building Logistics

Co-op and Condo Building Logistics

More than 75% of Manhattan's apartment buildings are co-ops, and nearly all of them come with rules that govern outside vendors: freight elevator reservations, certificates of insurance, restricted work hours, and building superintendent sign-offs.

A decluttering project that might take one day in a house can take two or three in a co-op building once you factor in elevator scheduling and item removal constraints. DDH has navigated these logistics in hundreds of Manhattan buildings. We coordinate with your building management so the process is seamless for you.
